Vision Program

In March 2004, Hearts Across Romania founding members launched their “I Care” Project for Romanian orphans to correct vision for orphaned children suffering from strabismus, commonly called “crossed eyes.” So far over one hundred twenty children have undergone surgery through a caring eye doctor and the Medical Director of Children's Hospital.

In September 2004, Hearts members purchased a much needed ophthalmology microscope from the Carl Zeiss Corporation in Germany, an MDO model valued at $17,000. For the first time, the eye doctor at Children's Hospital can perform more complicated eye surgery, including cataract and glaucoma operations. Hearts Across Romania needs to continue these life changing surgeries!

Hearts Across Romania has also purchased eye glasses and other equipment at a cost of over $8,000.

There are a number of ways individuals and corporations can support the I Care Project, including cash contributions, in-kind donations of equipment, and service donations.
