About Hearts Across Romania

Our Mission: To provide material, medical, educational and emotional support to Romania's orphans.
Hearts Across Romania is operated by an all-volunteer staff. One hundred percent of the donations we receive go toward helping Romania's orphans.
Hearts Across Romania was founded in 2003 by Mariana Achiriloaie, Geanie Burns, and Susan Flanagan - three friends brought together by their desire to help orphaned Romanian children.
Our Accomplishments
We have achieved so much to help Romania's children:
- $195,000 in medical supplies distributed to five Romanian hospitals
- Over 1,000 pairs of eyeglasses provided to orphans
- One new Zeiss microscope bought at $17,000 for eye surgery at the Children's Hospital
- Eye operations performed on over 120 orphans using equipment provided by us
- Purchased eye glasses and other equipment at a cost of over $8,000.
- Over 1,525 pairs of shoes distributed at Romania's orphanages
- Over $9,000 worth of new English books given to Brasov schools
- Donations of fruit, toys, hygiene products, cleaning supplies and over the counter medicine given to Romanian orphanages.
