Change a Child's Life Forever

Sponsorship offers a permanent solution, not just a little assistance.

It's hard to change the world, but what if you could make a difference in the life of a single child? Our new Sponsor A Child program allows you to do just that.

You can be the sponsor and pen pal to a Romanian child who has never known a parent, a child whose family is struggling to keep the family together, or a teenage orphan who is in much need of medical or dental care.

Through your recurring donation, your sponsored child can receive much-needed assistance. You will receive a photo and a biography of your child, along with updates on their progress.

For $35 per month, you can change the life of an orphaned, abandoned, or vulnerable child. Hearts Across Romania sponsors children who have lost their parents or are at risk of losing their families due to illness, poverty or other hardships.

Your gifts provide food, shelter, clothing, education, medical and dental care. Will you sponsor one of these children today?

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose the age or gender of the child I sponsor?
Yes, please let us know if you have preferences. Many people express interest in a particular gender or age of child. We'll do our best to match you with a child who fits your interests.

How long is my sponsorship commitment?
That's entirely up to you. Sponsorship of a child is voluntary. If you choose to donate monthly, it would be an ongoing contribution for the period of time specified by the sponsor, i.e. six months, one year, etc. Some sponsors may choose to make a one-time donation during a year, and they would be under no obligation to renew that contribution the following year. It would be entirely the choice of the individual donor.

How often will I receive news on my sponsored child?
You will receive periodic letters and pictures of your sponsored child.

How can I correspond with my child?
You can send cards, letters and pictures to your child by sending them to Hearts Across Romania, 2544 Brookside Dr., Irving, Texas 75063. Be sure your child's name is on the correspondence. Please do not include your address in letters to your child, as we ask that all correspondence be sent through our office.

Can I send a gift to my child?
If you would like to remember your child in a special way, you may enclose small items in letters to your child. Some items that children will enjoy are: stickers, hair ribbons, picture postcards and other flat, inexpensive items.

Are my contributions tax deductible?
Hearts Across Romania is a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization under IRS code 501(c)(3). You will receive a receipt acknowledging your contributions. Please check with your tax advisor about tax deductions.

How often should I send in my contribution?
You may send in your cash contribution on an annual basis, semi-annually, quarterly, or monthly. Checks should be made payable to Hearts Across Romania. You can also make your contributions via PayPal. Please note on your PayPal or check payments that your contribution is for the Sponsor a Child program. You will receive an annual statement of your contributions which you may use for your tax preparation.

Can I contribute by credit card or electronic fund transfer?
At this time we are unable to accept payment by credit card or electronic fund transfer.

Are children sponsored by more than one donor?
Hearts Across Romania matches one sponsor per child although that child may have an additional sponsor(s) through other organizations.
